Coming Soon! – The Grasshopper & the Ants Mini Sessions

 In Children

The Grasshopper & the Ants is one of Aesop’s fables and describes how a hungry grasshopper begs for food from an ant when winter comes and is refused. The situation sums up moral lessons about the virtues of hard work and planning for the future. You can watching the quick story by clicking here.

Here are the details:

Only Child packages are available for the Grasshopper & the Ants Mini Sessions and the recommended ages are between 6 months and 9/10 years old. Sessions last approximately 20 minutes and there is a maximum of 2 children per session. If you have 3 children, you will need to book for 2 sessions. This will obviously give you double of everything for the package you select.

A R 500 deposit is required to confirm your space. Please read each of the packages carefully as there have been a few changes from last year.

What to Expect –  There will be minimal props for this session and the plan is to capture a lot of movement while the kids dance with their instruments. I will provide the instruments but if your child plays an instrument, feel free to incorporate! Please just send me a quick photo so I can see beforehand.

Pinterest Style Guide – (Click Here for the style full guide) The colour palette for this mini session is pretty open. You can choose the palette you would like but please just make sure they are darker colours. My suggestion would be to stick to greys and browns (minimal black please) and then accent with a darker colour(s) like plum, hunter green, maroon, olive, rust, etc. Here are some example colour palettes that you can work with:

When you are putting your outfits together, think layers & textures! We are going for a more “rugged-dressy” look, if that makes sense… ?!

For the boys I would suggest a collared shirt for the base layer, a nice waste coat and a jacket. If you don’t have a waistcoat, it’s not a train smash. Try to make up for it with a nice jacket. Boots will work best for this session and you can also incorporate a nice scarf as an accessory. A top hat or similar is also suggested. I have some if anyone would like to use. 🙂

For the girls. again, think layers. A dress with a nice coat, tights, stockings and boots. Or you can go with long pants… or even shorts with stockings like the girl has on the left. Accessorise with a nice scarf and even a hat.

There are more examples on the full Pinterest style guide here.

And let’s not forget the shoes…. here are some nice examples.
