It’s March 2008 and I’m sitting at my desk in the Natural History and Fine Arts Museum, thinking about how excited I am for my third visit to South Africa in six years. I couldn’t put my finger on it, but there was just something about the place that I loved.
The people, the animals, the bush…I had some major Khaki Fever.
Right then and there, I decided to sell my stuff, pack my sh+!, and get the heck out of dodge. By January 2009, I was living in South Africa and doing something that made me truly happy.
My passion for travel, adventure and Africa’s amazing wildlife and scenery led me to the safari industry and the bush, where my interest in photography began to consume all of my free time. It was a wonderful place to perfect natural light photography, and the decision to pursue it as a career grew naturally from this experience.
I founded Kim Gensler Photography in 2013, and it is now my privilege to capture portraits of people in my favorite part of the world.
